O's lose to Detroit Tigers

On Tuesday, May 1st, the O’s had an upsetting lost to the Detroit Tigers with a final score of 5-4. Detroit’s pitcher, Sean Casey was just getting over the flu, and wasn’t doing too well in April. The Reliever, Joel Zumaya pitched for two innings, and he struck out four, and only allowed one hit. He has also been struggling recently, but this was his second consecutive appearance. Todd Jones was the pitcher for the ninth inning. One of the Tigers’ starters, Chad Durbin, only lasted 3 innings, and he allowed two runs and three hits, but he walked six. The Tigers’ manager Jim Leyland stated, “This was a lucky game for us, to walk that many guys.” Adam Loewen, an Oriole’s starter had three runs and seven hits within five innings. The O’s had a lead in the beginning of the third inning with 1-0 thanks to Melvin Mora’s fourth homer of the season. Oriole’s Hernandez then grounded out to shortstop when Nick Markakis scored, and Miguel Tejada went to third making the score 2-0. In the 5th inning, Detroit’s Polanco singled to the center field when Rodriguez scored. Detroit’s Monroe had a homerun and hit the ball to left, and Polanco scored, giving Detroit the lead with a score of 2-3. However, the Oriole’s tied the game in the seventh inning to 3-3 with Miguel Tejada’s single to the center where Melvin Mora scored, and Markakis went to second base. Then in the 8th inning Tigers’ Casey singled to the left, and Guillen scored when Granderson went to second. Also in the 8th inning, Granderson scored, and Casey went the third. Baltimore manager, Sam Perlozzo stated, “We had chances early to put it away, but couldn’t, we then had to battle all night. We need someone to come through with the big hits to extend the lead. We just haven’t been able to do that”. Starter, Brian Roberts scored on a ground out by Tejada, and Markakis made it to third, making the final score of 5-4 in the ninth inning. This was a tough game for the Oriole’s, but they should’ve won it.

The O's Lost to Cleveland Indians

The O’s played the Cleveland Indians yesterday with a 9-6 score, ending in a loss. The Indian’s Martinez scored in the second inning, and Peralta was thrown out at his third attempt to advance on a play. During the third inning, Hernandez doubled to the right while Millar, Patterson, and Tejada scored. This put the O’s in the lead with a score of 3-1. From the fourth to eighth inning only the Indians scored 8 runs, making the score 9-3. Cleveland’s Nixon drove in four runs and scored twice, and Sabathia was unbeaten except for allowing nine hits Sunday night.
Nixon was signed as a free agent in January after he had spent his entire career with the Red Sox. His RBI was at .320, which is the second best on the team behind Martinez. Nixon was 1 for 15 against left-handed pitchers this season before he got two hits each against Burres and Birkins. Nixon stated, "I was just fortunate to have the kind of day that I did today. I found the holes when I needed to. Having those kind of at-bats, it's a morale booster. The biggest thing for us is just winning the ballgame. We lost two games in a row here. Most of the time, I face lefties who come out of the bullpen, and those guys are not very fun. You get an opportunity to face guys who are starters, it seems like it's a little bit different out there”.
However, in the eighth inning, Nick Markakis hit to the left while Huff scored. Also in the eighth inning, Millar singled to the leftfield and Melvin Mora scored. Thus making the score 9-5, and in the ninth inning, Hernandez singled to the left field and Brian Roberts score. So the final score of the game was 9-6 with the Cleveland Indians winning.

I'm Lost

I don’t understand the obsession with the T.V. series called Lost. It is a new show on ABC and is on every Wednesday night.
It starts out with the Oceanic Flight 815 out of Sydney, Australia is mysteriously crashed onto an uncharted island in the Pacific Ocean, and they are all lost. Where is the plot? Nothing interesting after that can happen. I think that the show is boring and I have no interest in it at all. There are a lot of people that I know that are obsessed with the show, and I don’t understand why. I have watched episodes of Lost before, but I get lost and I don’t understand it. So the survivors of the plane crash must learn that they have to work as a team in order to be rescued. In season 3, the characters: Jack, Kate and Sawyer have been captured. They are then forced to live with these mysterious others in their encampment. This other groups of people are their enemies and there are many secrets of the island. I just don’t understand what is so interesting about that, people get lost on an island, and they venture the island to get rescued.
However, one day they really do become rescued or they all die. Why would anyone watch that? The 48 survivors of the plane crash will slowly die off or they are somehow rescued by a search and rescue group. Either way I would be greatly disappointed by the outcome of the season of lost. I’m lost as to why anyone would purposefully watch this show. To watch the ending would just be a disappointment.

The Hills- "Everyone Falls"

Last night's episode of The Hills was named everyone falls for a very funny reason. On Good Morning America, Whitney was wearing Hilary Swank's dress to show off the Oscar style dresses. The four models that were interns were supposed to walk down the stairs to show off these gorgeous gowns. However, Whitney took a tumble on the stairs where her foot gave in and she slipped to the side. Although, she quickly recovered gracefully and held her smile until after the clip was over. Lauren was in the audience watching her friend's embarrassing moment as she looked on in shock at what just happened. As soon as Lauren got backstage to comfort her friend, Whitney broke out in tears. Whitney was afraid that she let Lisa down, although when Whitney got back to the office, her boss told her she got a very nice letter from Amy Astley, Teen Vogue Editor-in-Chief, saying that she handled the fall very gracefully. In fact, Lisa decides to send Whitney to New York for the Fashion Consultant interview.
Spencer and Heidi are still arguing over the fact that Heidi doesn't want to move in with Spencer because she isn't ready. Spencer is getting fed up and says that he is ready to take their relationship to the next level. Heidi explains that she isn't ready to move in yet, because she is afraid she will lose Lauren's friendship and it will affect her work. Spencer thinks that Heidi is being unreasonable and that Lauren is getting in the way of their relationship and Heidi needs to move on. Spencer decides to visit Heidi at work and calls her to tell her to meet him in the alley. Heidi gets in his car to discuss their problems, and for the last time Heidi tells him that shes not ready and that she needs a few months before thinking about moving in. The episode ends with Spencer telling Heidi to get out of his car, and he speeds off.
However in the clips of the next episode, it shows Heidi in a moving truck with Spencer, leaving Lauren behind.

Grey's Anatomy- "My Favorite Mistake"

Last night, on the latest Grey's Anatomy, many new exciting twists are added to the plot. In the previous episode, George and Callie got into a fight. So George went to Izzie to talk to her, and they end up drinking and they both had too much to drink. George ends up cheating on Callie, and the next day he wakes up to an empty bed wondering what happened.
The new episode begins with Izzie leaving the bed, and George waking up feeling under the weather. Callie runs into George at work, and tells him how they will have lunch with Callie's father and George will have to make a good impression. During the lunch confrontation, George remembers what happens, and stands up to her father, saying that he will provide and take care of Callie. She is very impressed with George and proud of him because no one has ever stood up to her dad before. Later in the episode, Callie's dad tells George that he better not hurt Callie. George then finds Izzie, and drags her into the linens closet to tell her that he remembers. Izzie thinks that he should tell Callie, but George refuses and says that it would hurt her too much. Dr. Burke and Christina are always having problems, but this time it's because Christina wants things to go back to the way it used to be with Dr. Burke. To do this, Christina brings him coffee and he refuses it. The doctors that are in competition for Chief's position are coming up with new 10 year plans, however McSteamy has a different idea. His idea is a "right now" plan, although he got this idea from Miranda. From previous episodes, the victim of the ferry burning has to choose a face for surgery. Choosing from three different pictures, she is having a hard time picking one. So she chooses 'Ava', a made-up character that Mark chose.
There is an interesting set of patients in the hospital, but the most interesting is the patient that has a disease where muscle turns into stone if touched. So being very careful around her, the doctors had to do surgery to save her, because even if they didn't do surgery, she would die. However, she died on the operating table from internal bleeding. In the clinic, Christina treats a construction man with diabetes. She makes him take off his shoes and socks and demands to see his foot. Like she already knew it was there, a sore was on the bottom of his foot. It was so bad, that she had to amputate his foot. Meredith is concentrating on her big surgery where she will help with McSteamy in surgery. Derek however, thinks that he is using her to impress Chief to show that he can be a good teacher. Meredith does the surgery anyhow and does a perfect job, and she tells Derek that her mother would be proud of her.
The episode ends with Izzie crying on her bed because she thinks that she has feelings for George.

House- "The Mistake"

House and Chase are in a bit of trouble after one of his female patients dies because Chase forgot to ask one question.
Kayla was watching her two little daughters perform for the talent show when all of a sudden, she was having sharp stomach pain. In the middle of the girl's routine, she started screaming out in pain. After being rushed to the hospital, Dr. House was in his office discussing the diagnosis with his team of doctors, however he couldn't open a bottle. He asked Chase to open it, and told Forman to do a test on the patient. Although, Chase spilled the pills everywhere, and Dr. House then told Chase to run the test. Chase successfully did the test, but when Kayla came back for a test on her arm, Chase wasn't interested. He has just got a call telling him that his father just died from lung cancer. Chase says that he just saw his father two months ago but he didn't tell him that he only had two months left to live. Distracted by this news, Chase misdiagnosed Kayla when she says that she took the medicine and her stomach still hurts. Instead of going into an exam room and making sure she was ok, Dr. Chase assumed that the disease was stronger than they thought, and gave her a prescription for stronger antacids.
However she had bleeding stomach ulcers from taking too many ibuprofens and with it going misdiagnosed it got worse. When she showed up at the hospital again, she was vomiting blood, so Chase and Forman send a camera down to her stomach to see what was going on. They then find the ulcer, but the contents of her stomach, with the infection had already spewed into the rest of her body. Therefore, the danger of this was fatal, and she was rushed to the "OR". It damaged her kidney and liver which caused her brother to give half his liver to her. House had to blackmail the best transplant surgeon to do the surgery for Kayla and her brother. However, he had his medical testing done by a lab tech that he paid to say that his liver was clean. Although, he has Hepatitis C from getting a tattoo, which caused Kayla to have liver cancer. She died later at her home, and her brother was furious, thinking it was Chase's fault. This is when the lawsuit came into play. Stacey, House's ex-wife, is the attorney of the hospital and this is when the brother decided to sue Chase.
The committee of doctors suspended Chase for a week to get his life back into place. As for House, they are allowing Dr. Cuddy to provide a doctor to supervise Dr. House at all times. When Dr. House shows back up in his office, to his surprise Dr. Foreman is his new supervisor.
